IM thinking of buying a bike:

Triumph Daytona 675

Engine:
Type Liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder
Capacity 675cc

Transmission:
Primary Drive Gear
Final Drive O ring chain
Clutch Wet, multi-plate
Gearbox 6-speed, close ratio

Dimensions
Length 2010mm (79.1in)
Width (Handlebars) 710mm (28in)
Height 1109mm (43.7in)
Seat Height 825mm (32.5in)
Wheelbase 1392mm (54.8in)
Rake/Trail 23.5º/86.8mm
Fuel Tank Capacity 17.4 litres (4.6 gal US)

Stack, since your an experienced rider can you give me any suggestions on a bike. I'm a starter, the bike would be primarily used to get to work and school.

Looking forward to your input!

I would suggest getting as cheap as possible first bike, ride it for a year, then get something you really want.

If you have the money, try to get at least a FI bike, carbs suck, fuel injection is alot less maintenance, but if you want to go dirt cheap, and I mean dirt cheap, you can normally pick up a Ninja 250 or 500 for under 2000, but they are slow as balls, the ninja 250 has trouble doing 70mph. I started out on a 2001 F4I cbr600, nice bike to start on, whatever you do, don't just go out and buy a 1000cc anything.

The best thing to do is just keep looking in the paper, craigslist, and cycle trader for something local, at least once or twice a month there is someone in a bind and needs to sell their bike for really cheap for some quick cash.

I tried riding a dirtbike when I was 14 or 15 and tumbled it over along the gully near my parents house in houston. never had and interest after that until I went to Cozumel and rented 2 mopeds for a couple days for me and amber. fun as shit. took it as fast as it would go (70km/hr lol) and it almost threw me off the road. scared the shit out of me...

murdercycles going 100+ miles per hour on the road is just unbelievably retarded to me. It's cool to watch on cole's videos and on youtube and stuff, but I would never be up to the risk of driving one regularly.

I could do with a moped for driving locally around austin, but I also know how to get everywhere on roads where its 45mph or less.

A motorcycle just doesn't feel safe when I sit on it. I need to feel in control, and riding something that could wheelie out from under me isn't "safe" in my opinion.

I guess I'm a pussy, but at least i'm a pussy that will never have to be in a motorcycle collision.

Another factor that comes into play for me is being an EMT, I've seen some pretty fucked up aftermaths of motorcycle accidents. Doesn't make me want to go hop on one, that's for sure.

Yea this bike is pretty cheap, 5 grand used, 2006 with 1500 miles. I think its a steal.
This bike supposedly has superb handling and is good for beginners according to Motor Cycle Mag. I was think about a ninja or a kawasaki.
