Went to the track this weekend, started out really bad.
Friday: Took a half day at work, so I could pack up my bike and hit the road early, on the way home, Camaro blew the clutch out, limped it home in 2nd gear, said fuck it, and did not think about it all weekend. Had all 4 bikes, gear, and all people loaded up and on the way by about 4pm, got there 15 minutes before they stopped letting people in (9pm). Unloaded all our stuff went back to the hotel, slept on a floor.
Saturday: Got up at 6:45, went to track. The one guy who had never been on the track had signed up for an intro ride on his bike (two 20 minute sessions on the track), wrecked (vid will be posted soon) in turn 5 (a sharp hairpin 180 degree U turn), he got on the throttle too early, bike skidded and then tires caught, high sided, and thew him off. Took us about 2 hours to put new parts on and his bike was ready for the next day. I put the race wheels / slicks on my bike, took off my street wheels and also had a new back tire put on just as a backup. Went to walmart, got a blow up mattress, went to sleep.
Sunday: All 4 of us raced, it rained a bunch and a lot of people left, but we stuck with it and rode on the wet course, which meant there were more instructors to watch us on more of a 1 on 1 basis. At the end of the day one of the instructors pulled me aside and asked me if I have been doing this for a while, told him it was my 2nd time, and he said that I was doing everything right, and moved me up to the middle level (I was the only intro level guy all day to be moved to the intermediate level). So it was a good day for me, and it means I get to go to Talladega Saturday and ride with the experienced riders (no noobies running me off the track etc), and get to pass in turns now (intro can only pass on straightaways). So then we packed all of our stuff up and came back.
Monday: Remembered my car was screwed up, bike is not street legal right now, no way to get to work. So I did some shopping around and by the end of the day I bought a 2006 Honda Accord V6 coupe with 16,000 miles, so its like almost brand new, in perfect shape for $10,000 less than new (got it for 16,000 after giving them the Camaro), so yeah, the Camaro is now gone.
So yeah, thats what I have been up to, check out my new avatar too
