Service corps are not bad, although mandatory ones set precedent for other things down the line. Remember that the guy that wrote that article is a wacko right wing douchebag, he makes his money scaring upper middle class whites into thinking obama is going to kill us all. Political socialization is such an interesting thing though. Mandatory public education introduces things such as the pledge of allegiance and oddles of mandatory U.S. History. These two things are some of the building blocks of nationalism which is fundamental to maintaining a strong state.

Now if this turns out to be stuff like my college did, where we go out one day in the community and clean schools/plant things at the military base/help youth/elderly then it is not a bad thing. But as with most things it really ought to be handled in the private sector by private/public in terms of public Universities. Hopefully the far left handjobs are being ignored just like this dumbass.
