| Post subject: | Laptop Video Card Drivers |
Well i've been playing a lot of TF2 lately and i still have really crappy fps. I'm pretty sure its due to my drivers being old and i have had no luck finding new ones. I have tried various things from hacked and 3rd party drivers, that mobility modder thingy but nothing. When i first join a game i have an fps of 45+. After a while i will start lagging and will get under 20 fps. then go back up to 45+ then back down. It mainly stays on the lag. I have also tried CFGs to no luck either. they just give me a small boost in fps. do you guys have any idea to how i can get new drivers or any way to help me? any help would be nice |

It sounds more that the card is overheating, not that the drivers are crappy. Get the latest official driver. Put more info on the laptop/video card to find the driver. |

See if you can find some software that monitors the temperature of the card. I think corn might be right. |

I went on the official ATI site to try download new drivers (because when i first started up TF2 it said drivers are outdated) and tried downloading the drivers that i searched for based on my vid card. Said it's not compatible. But i'll try your idea. Anything i could use to try and see? i dunno what to look for or whatever Googling ^^ and if it is overheating what do i do? |

Maybe your laptop video card doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the game? |

I'm pretty sure it does I did the system requirements thing and also when i first started the game up it was running in DX9. Also googled and found it is a DX9 vid card. 128 MB if you're wondering. Oh well... guess i'll live with the lag till i can get a new comp. Thanks for the help anyway guys. I'll keep searching for drivers |

Like they said, what card is it, exact specs, same for the laptop, what processor, speed, memory, etc. Download CPUz and GPUz and let us know. GPUz also shows the temp |

I have a similar card (Radeon 9600 XT) and I can't play much beyond HL2/Source, so it's not surprising you can't get much out of it |
