| Post subject: | New Power Supply |
So i probably need a new power supply. Not sure which one to get or which ones would be right for my computer and the video card I got. So im thinking about getting one of these PSU when I get the money. Tell which one would be best cuz I have no clue: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Antec-Basiq-500-Watt-Power-Supply-23500/sem/rpsm/oid/171018/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817148027 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341012 Also, my computer is a low profile computer so these powersupplies might not fit inside the computer but I can probably fit them outside the case. Would the wires reach where ever they need to be if it was outside? |

Why do you think you need a new power supply for starters?? |

because my power supply on my computer wont work. Everytime I start my computer up the power button turns red and blinks 4 times then pauses and repeats Cole found the manual to my computer online and it said if that happens (the red blinking) its a "power supply overload". |

i'm pretty sure any PSU should fit in any case, so no worries on that, i bought a 500 WATT for 15 bucks at microcenter, it was well worth it |

The second one has lower amps on the 12v rails. The first adn the third are both running 18a on both rails so i would recommend one of those. Like I said I have the first one and its awesome. I mean you arent doing anything instense or putting to much on it, so something like that will suit your needs. |

Certain PSUs are bigger. Plus I have a low profile computer:
So I either find something that can fit my computer or be ghetto and have it on the outside Also I need to make sure if it is gonna be on the outside then will the cables be long enough? That's one of my worries |

Hers uses a weird form factor psu, just google dx5150 psu then hit images. Her computer broke when she installed her new bid card, but the psu is supposed to have overload protection. The situation sucks but if she wants to have a working computer with a more powerful psu than the 250 watt, then she will have to rig something up. And yes the cables should reach, your case is so small there should be plenty of extra length. |
