I am currently trying to format one of my partitions. The problem is that I keep getting an error saying windows was unable to finish format and I can't use the windows cd since it isnt connected to my Power Supply (don't ask why) |

The partition you are trying to format is an entire drive, I assume? And obviously one that is not your main volume w/ your system files... Are you formating a new partition or reformatting it from a previous one? |

You can't downgrade Vista to Xp. edit: as easily as one would expect I know that's not your case, I just wanted to put that out there. I would say though, go into your BIOS and tell it to boot from Windows CD and delete that partition and format it from it... but from what you said, that isn't an option. I don't really have a clear solution, but to try Norton's Partition Magic (could be titled differently). With it, you can easily create, delete, and format partitions accordingly with pretty much ease. Find a crack for it on w-bb... |

Yeah its one of windows bugs. It sees system files in your vista directory and it "thinks" they are needed for xp because they have similar names. I used my windows cd to format so try to find a way to get it to work. You can also try partition magic or some similar app. |
