alright heres my setup: 1gig ram 256 ati mobility radeon x600 large hard drive pent 4 processor at 3ghz knowing that, after returning back to school my FPS has dropped to an abnormal level. I wasn't watching it using net_graph back at my house but I know it wasn't anywhere under 30 fps like it consistently drops to now. How? because you can feel fps slowing down and I didn't feel any of the things I did back at my house like I do now. Now, I know there's a host of things that could be f'ing up my fps but I haven't, not knowingly, changed anything on my computer. However, I do know that my college network makes us run unseen programs in the background of our computers to keep them "safe". Could this really be affecting my FPS that much? This is a loaded question without a doubt and I'm not asking anyone to give me all the answers and tell me everything but instead tell me where I should get started. Is it the ati drivers? Are there to many start up programs running that are bogging me down? Something in CS that I need to fix? anything will help, thanks! and buying a new computer is not an answer lol |

to start, i'd ask you what kind of internet connection did you have at your house/college. Are they that far away from each other where you might get a considerable difference from one place to the next? |

my college is an hour away from my house. my house gets comcast high speed and I'm on a wifi network at my house. I'm on a college lan network and that could cause some lag etc b/c everyone in my dorm is on the same network. |
