Well I'm in the 12th grade and I just now failed all my classes for this semester, I have ADD but my dad hates adderall and won't let me get proscribed to any medication. I try as hard as I can at my school but still have the worksheets they give me make no sence. The teachers stand in font of the class for 30 minutes and teach but 5 minutes through I just can't concentrate any more and then time starts flying then we have a bunch of worksheets to do that I don't know were to even start and they won't help you because they said they just explained it. If anybody can tell me anything that will help me with school so I won't have to drop out and go get my GED I really will appreciate it. |

Try talking to a counselor? Or staying with someone else other than your dad. If hes not helping you to reach your goal of getting your high school diploma, then hes pretty sucky and you should dump him. |

"You got weed, I got weed, We all got weed, So...... Lets Smoke it up!!!" First of all, Weed+Academics=Fail You can't do one and expect to excel at the other. Second, Find ways to deal with it. That's what I did. I never went on medication, and it was not hard for me to graduate. And, yes, I had it bad. |

Yeah man, if you have a disorder you have to get some prescriptions. Like GiGi said, talk to your counseler. |

If I didn't smoke weed My stress would make me go insane, I don't do it in school, my dad was never there for me and my mom died when I was in fifth grade, I go to an adult high school so there used to people dropping out every week so they don't care. Im 17 and I don't want to get my GED but it seems like the only option. When I stay after school the teachers won't help you cause they are working on there lessons for tomorow. |

The GED isnt a bad thing. If you feel it isnt for you then try asking your dad about other schools. Or homeschooling? w/e is best for you. I know how it is to be stressed out in school and not doing so well. I had the same problem where the teachers didn't care to do anything and its annoying, but somewhere a long the lines there will be people to help you. Just gotta be patient and try your best til you can find that right place. |

Well, if you're really failing as bad as your are with what seems to be a case of ADD then chances are this isn't a new phenomenon. The SPED system prob would have picked you up a few years ago, and if they havent, then thats quit unfortunate. You need to talk to your teacher. no one else can help you at this situation. Your teacher, if they are your normal, average teacher, will start the process of an intervention plan and getting a group of specialists together. The teacher will try to move you up front, talking to you after class and after school more, a whole slew of things to see what's really triggering your failure. That teacher will then get together with the group of specialists and figure out whats going on. That group usually consists of a SPED teacher, your teacher, other teachers you've had, and the principle. At this point, they make the decision as to whether or not to test you. The test includes a cognitive and comprehension section to it. After all of this, the question will come down to whether or not you need an IEP or 504. If IEP, the parent will come in and choose whether or not they think that would be for the best. Same as 504, only 504s have different standards. If you get an IEP the teachers will decide what things you need on it etc. Its a pretty lengthy process taking up to 3 months if things go well. im not sure if medication is the answer to your problem but we'll see. I really hope you do alright and stay in school. do your best! |

my friend does that stuff, awol, he's not dumb.... i have a friend and he's my neighbor, my parents are friends with his parents too, anyway, they talk and they told me he has ADD, and what he does is he has to sit in front of the class, he has basic skills (not sure what EXACTLY that is, i think it's just to help you learn how to study, take notes, etc.) and i think he takes some meds, not sure about that one though |
