I have been planning on buying a race bike for a while now, but was going to wait for a year or so, until I have improved enough to need the faster bike. Well.... I came across a freaking sweet bike for a steal.
From the "for sale" ad:
-05gsxr1000 formerly owned/raced by national AMA rider Brian Stokes. He rebuilt the supersport legal motor at end of 05 season for Laguna Seca AMA round by reputable builder (new bearings, ti valves,pistons,rods-even have the old ones-, cam timing set, head milled).
-Just did leakdown and compression check. 230-235psi and 1-2% leak in 3 cylinders, 3% in one of them.
-Ohlins 3-way shock
-Ohlins 25mm forks
-Ohlins steering damper,fork mounted.
-Swingarm pivots installed for better traction.
-19x18 brembo radial mc. with on-fly adjuster cable
-r1 throttle tube for quicker turn.
-PCIII mapped for u4 but runs great on pump gas
-Dynojet quickshifter and ignition module
-sharkskinz bodywork near perfect condition
-vortex rearsets, frame sliders and clip ons
-ignition removed, dual ignition switches (can leave dash on without motor running)
-steel brake lines front/rear
-Vortex fairing stay
-M4 Full TI system with new M4 muffler. New spiggots.
-Vortex left side case cover.
-Vortex gas cap
-stomp grip on tank
-"Ventedbrake.com" front brake rotor ram air ducts
-CRG 3 way adjustable pull/adjustable throw clutch lever
-gas tank has quick drain disconnect bung welded to bottom for draining race gas and checking gas level.
-EBC brakes
-APE manual cam chain tensioner
-Giles rear wheel/axle adjusters
-1 set stock wheels (black) with stock rotors and full set of sprockets
-Just powder coated brand new set of 16.5" marvic wheels black (were white)
-New BREMBO Rotors (stock 310mm size) on Marvic front wheel (not shown in pictures)
-Have LOTS of sprockets for both 17" and 16.5 wheels as well as front sprockets.
-Engine just serviced and tuned (plugs, cam chain tension, did dyno runs, air filter, leakdown check, compression check, etc) prior to march daytona
-new RK 520 o-ring chain
-new renthall med grips
-brand new throttle cables
-Just had forks and Shock serviced by THermosman
-just installed new steering head bearings .
-Just powder coated 16.5" marvic wheels black
-New clutch.
-countershaft sprocket cover modified to allow access for quick changes (cut out most of countershaft sprocket cover)
-Frame checked by GMD and is straight/true
-Bike is meticulously maintained by Kinetic motorsports, engine oil/filter every other race weekend
All of those parts easily add up to a bike that would cost me over $20k in parts, plus he threw in tons of extra parts, and enough slicks to cover almost 5 years of racing. The bike has TONS of power, so much that I actually wish I could de-tune it some, because it is just too much power. The only thing I will do to it is repaint it in the future. This bike is a full AMA bike that in the past 2 years very likely was raced and on national TV (could of been a practice bike or something, each rider gets like 10 bikes a year).
Taking it to the track in October and will get to test it out, but already rode it near my house, and it scared the shit out of me. My other bike makes 140hp, this one put down (to the wheels) 192hp.
