I'll miss the cut off by about a week, but I'm not so sure I'd even do it. I honestly can't think of a reason why I should bother... Maybe someone can enlighten me and change my mind, but I just can't. It basically seems that officials just lie their way to where ever they want to go, and then do whatever they want. Like the current people promising all this shit. They are probably only go do one thing they promise, half ass it, and then play it off like it's big shit and they worked hard for it. I'm kind of a pessimist on this, but that's why I want to hear some other opinions. |

I think the point is that its our civic duty to play a role in the election of our government officials. Not just our president, but our state reps and our local reps and so forth. I see where you are coming from with how the presidents promise one thing then do another. However, most of what they do is voted upon by our state reps, so at the very least make sure you are voting for the people that rep you in your state. at the same time, keep in mind what party you are voting for. although you might think the person may be lying and what not, the party that candidate belongs to represents at its core very basic ideas that every president follows. Voting is what keeps this country as a democracy which is what people have fought and died for. So yes, i believe you should vote at the very least your state reps, governors, mayors, and so forth. its your duty, ROCK THE VOTE SUCKAAAAA. lawl |

I vote(d). However, do I really think that anyone's vote really counts for anything? No. Why? Because I know that it doesn't. It's the sad fact. You can vote for whoever you want. You can have whoever you want represent you. In the end, a select few(that you probably don't know) make the decision on their own. F*** what the people say. We (apparently) don't know what we want. Vote? Feel free. Then again, feel free not to. |

Honestly, no matter who you really care to vote for....If you dont vote, you lose your right to bitch. At the end of the day no matter who wins, or loses and who's views and policies are put into place. You can have the right to say that you did have a say in that. If you didn't vote...then you can't Thats my take on it at least. I cant stand people who bitch about things but do nothing to try to correct them. BE PROACTIVE PEOPLE! <3 |

seriously? did you just do that? SUDAN 1998 Missiles Attack on pharmaceutical plant alleged to be "terrorist" nerve gas plant. AFGHANISTAN 1998 Missiles Attack on former CIA training camps used by Islamic fundamentalist groups alleged to have attacked embassies. IRAQ 1998-? Bombing, Missiles Four days of intensive air strikes after weapons inspectors allege Iraqi obstructions. What do you think was going on at this time? The Lewinsky scandal. Smoke and mirrors. Please don't pass on this regurgitated garbage as factual. Its insulting to everyone's intelligence. Thank you. |

Politicians everywhere are the same. They lie their ways into their fancy offices. However giving up that right given to you is like giving up on the whole democracy theory. So vote, and hope for the best. That been said, I feel that the foreign affairs policies will never change no matter who gives the orders. That's the only part that concerns me anyway. Your own affairs, well, pick wisely and good luck! |

I hate to sound so mean, but seriously... I cant stand people who read the talking points bulletin and have no background knowledge of the issues and spew out a one liner that makes no sense. Its like having a conversation with someone who is throwing rocks at you. You talk, then someone hits you in the head w/ a rock. It does nothing to progress the conversation and just gives you a head ache. GW lied. yea. seriously? Iraq had no WMD's? really? bullshit we gave them to him. yup. we did. ...was this the right thing to do? probably not. The US government has a way of putting its own foot in its mouth in a VERY elaborate way. So..we know he had them. That was the reason given for going in... Just because we didn't find them doesn't mean that they aren't there. We gave him every chance to straighten up. We threatened and threatened and threatened. He kept our weapon inspectors out. He didn't play by the rules. Rules that he agreed to(by force, please understand) but agreed to all the same. If he didn't have them, why would he not allow the UN weapons inspectors in to verify this? (Just my speculation, but probably because he was shipping them into Syria) You want a better reason for having him removed from power? What about Genocide? Does that do it for you? http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/13/iraq.graves/ I HATE CNN, but here is a link. I have read the number was larger...but this will give you an idea of what this man was capable of. This is not the only instance. I have read that he ordered the killing of alot of kurds with chemicals. Not just gunshots to the head. There were several reasons to remove him from power a LOOOONG time ago. GW was just the one who had the balls to it. I agree, this isn't a well formulated post. It is mainly just ranting. But the facts are there. You wont find them on tv. Please research instead of depending on CNN, FOX, MSN, NY Times for your "facts" about what is going on in todays world. Also, Global Warming is bullshit. |

"So far in this topic, Chris wins. Everyone just sit down and listen to him." I'm all set with giving in to one person's opinion. Although I concur with a majority of his opinions, I would like to think I can compose my own thoughts on an issue and not just listen to one persons. That's probably why you think voting isn't important. Instead of working to get your opinions voiced, you'd rather accept other's opinions and then say that it was your only choice or that you had no choice at all. Your elitist theory seems to be extravagant. Then again, I could be living in a dreamworld but if I am, so be it. |

No. I'm just not they type of person to buy into the hype. I am not saying that controlling pollution would not be beneficial to the planet as a whole. I am just saying that I would like more proof than 100 yrs. of records and ~1 degree of change to tell me that we are making that large of an impact on the climate. As I understood it the planet had a tendency to regulate its climate by shifting in and out of ice ages. Lets look a little further into this "theory" and see if this might have something to do with the rising temperatures. I'm just not going to settle for fear mongering to make this decision for me. Especially when these same people are the biggest hypocrites to ever walk the earth with their jets and suv's and ridiculously large houses. (ahem Al Gore) |

Don't have the time to make a complete post, but here is a few things. Bush gets a lot of shit for some reason. What re the main points against him, war and spying on phone lines? If you honestly think this is the only time your phones have been tapped, well, keep thinking it because it is more pleasant. As for the war, all except the reconstruction were done quite well. IMO we should bail out of the country and establish a U.N. run government that will train the Iraqis on democracy but meh, I'm not that important. When it gets down to it, in 30 years, bush won't be thought of as a Herbert Hoover. As for global warming, They have recently published(they being scientists) articles on how the world is cool itself which will set off global warming... So by using their own logic then Natural warming and natural cooling only make sense. And as for do something proactive or don't do anything at all, you can shine a turd, but all that does it get shit everywhere. IMO so long as people make a career out of politics, it will continue to be corrupt. There are good people yes, but in a world of backstabbery and douchebagatory remarks, good guys generally get effed in the eh. I have a quote from Thoreau somewhere that pertains to this, but I cant find it. I'll post it when I do. |
