Oh boy. Here it goes.

This week, my school is putting up their spring play. The play is "A Midsummer Night's Dream." For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it is indeed a Shakespeare play.

So, naturally, there are multiple productions and rehearsals throughout this week. We'll be doing something every day after school until later that night when the show/rehearsal is done.

That being so, I won't be on too much this week. Just a little heads up.

Sidenotes: I will be playing Theseus, Duke of Athens. I am on stage about half of the running time of the play. I have many monologues, one of which is an entire page.

The play is hilarious. Cast the right players, and it's piss-your-pants funny.

As far as Shakespeare goes, this one is not very hard to understand. (I've studied Shakespeare for a while, so even coming in to a new play of his I understand what's going on. So far, this one has been one of the simpler reads.)

My wife played "Moth" in it for a local college production that traveled a few places around TX when she was 14.

I don't think I've actually ever stayed awake for the movie though.

They should make a version where chuck norris is the star...

Hey, now AWOL is the star! What more could you want?!

My favorite line from this play is one of my own. "Marry, if he that writ it had played Pyramus and hung himself in Thisbe's garter, it would have been a fine tragedy." <---That's sarcasm, and it's supposed to be funny.

What's great about Theseus is that he is going to be married, so he's happy-go-lucky. If anything displeases him, he's just sarcastic about it. He's just trying to have some fun. (In all honesty, the guy is just waiting to get laid. He has to wait until he's married to do Hipolyta.)

The plays are always fun to do here though. We have an amazing director, and the entire cast is great. We're a pretty tight group.

Seriously though, I can't wait for the cast parties. Man, we get fucking crazy. I'm pretty sure our cast parties could contend with the best of college parties. IT'S OFF THE HOOK!

ive been to a few cast parties and no they cannot contend to college parties.

well, maybe a really shitty college party; I.E. 4 dudes show up and sit on a couch drinking by themselves, versus a really good cast party, then maybe, maybe, a cast party is better. till then....

nice try :)

And I've been to pasture parties that can destroy most college parties.

Casting parties seem like fun, but... i doubt they can hold up in comparison.

Take pics though ;)

Normally, I'd agree with you. However, you don't know THIS cast.

Nice try though. Your stereotypes phail. You're likely to develop a bad case of "sense of phailyur." See Snake about that. He'll help you out.

And it means, "If the guy who had written it,(the play within the play is what he is referring to), had played Pyramus,(A character in that mini-play), and hung himself in Thisbe's garter,(Thisbe=character, garter=underwear of sorts), it would have been a fine tragedy."
